On December 6, St. Nicholas Day, the Saint Arseny Institute celebrated the completion of the very first term of classes since its establishment as a project of the Archdiocese of Canada, Orthodox Church in America. During the vespers service, in which several students did the readings, the whole student body was remembered in prayer before the Lord. Mother Magdalen, our resident nun, who upholds us so faithfully in prayer, led the choir in beautiful singing, with the help of priest-wife Diane and Fr.
Saturday evening, October 4th marked the first get-together for students, staff, supporters and others interested in the ministry of the Institute. This was the first of a series of monthly gatherings for worship, brief inspirational instruction, and socializing. A vespers service was held, followed by a Memorial Service for Archbishop Arseny, who fell asleep in the Lord on October 4, 1945. Students from the Readers’ Program and Liturgics class did portions of the services.
His Grace, Bishop Seraphim, officially opened the Saint Arseny Institute at a prayer service on August 24th 2003, at Holy Trinity Sobor, where the Institute classes are held.
