The Saint Arseny Institute (SAI) is an Orthodox Christian theological school under the direction of His Grace Irénée, Bishop of Quebec City, Administrator of the Archdiocese of Canada.
Established in 2003, the Institute is named after a beloved and revered servant and bishop of the Orthodox Church in Canada, who fell asleep in the Lord in 1945. (Please see the 'History' section for more information on St. Arseny.)
Located in Winnipeg (a city of 650,000 residents), in the southern part of the province of Manitoba, the Institute is in the geographical heart of North America.
The mandate of the Institute is to prepare Readers and Deacons to serve in the Church. Members of the laity who wish to improve their understanding of Orthodox theology are also welcome. In addition to these immediate goals, we hope to offer a priestly-formation program in the future.
We currently offer the following programs:
1. Reader's Program - a training program for the office of Reader in the Orthodox Church
2. Certificate in Orthodox Theology - a program of 19 courses leading to a certificate in Orthodox theology for laity
3. Diploma in Orthodox Theology - a program of 19 courses, completion of the Reader's Program (or demonstrated proficiency) and successful completion of a Practicum, leading to a Diaconate diploma
All classes are offered online via Moodle. For more details, please refer to the 'Programs' section.
